EDITOR’S NOTE: This is a beautiful Madagascar Garnet faceted by Elaine Songer. The gem was sourced from rough from a large parcel imported from Madagascar a number of years ago, the parcel is quite a mixed lot with a true mix of red garnets ranging from hot pink to blood and fire red. This particular piece is full of very tiny micro bubbles which sometimes destroys the beauty of the cut stone. Not in this case – it’s a wonderful artisnal cut stone from a true precision faceter.

EDITOR’S NOTE: There are several classes of gemstones that are most familiar to gemstone enthusiats. Precision Faceted – or Custom Cut, Commercial Cut, and Native Cut – or Traditional Cut.
