King Stag – Sri Lanka Zircon 5.25 ct

I ran across this gem in storage recently. King Stag represents my very first original design. The shape and display in zircon is quite beautiful, subsequent test cut in garnet a bit dark – but sill quite pleasing. The design is unusual in that the series of facets that don’t meet represent the head and rack of a kingly stag.

The photo too, which I dug out of the files – and which I surprisingly still had, has to be one of my very first photo attempts. Look close, I’m not sure what the camera is focused on. This photo was before the addition to my equipment of a good macro lens and properly balanced lighting. A true photo experiment at that time. The double refraction adds to the effect.

Availability of this King Stag Zircon is pending.

I intend to do a follow up photoshoot with this gem to compare photo styles from beginning to present. I think the results will be quite interesting – I’ll repost both photos for comparison.

Elaine Songer’s Opal Moon for Robyn Hawk

I remember last year around Halloween Robyn loved my Something Wicked Halloween photo. With that in mind, I took liberties with Elaine Songer’s Opal and created this digital montage for Robyn to celebrate Halloween 2010.

The work also marks the very successful completion of eye surgery for Elaine!
