Description:

This piece of tourmaline is from the São Jose do Batalha Mine, Paraiba State, Brazil. It is unheated – Caribbean Blue & 1.35 ct. The stone displays typical inclusions present from this locale and does not detract from the overall beauty of the material. This material in particular is prized for its color. We guarantee origin and natural color.

This stone was cut from rough in 1996. Quantitative chemical analysis revealed that these elbaite tourmalines contain surprisingly high concentrations of copper which produce some very striking “neon” like colors.

Paraiba in this hue is extremely rare and this is old stock material which was acquired before many fine pieces from this source played out.

Contact us and we will be more than happy to send this or any other of our stones out on memo for inspection.
