I discovered this beauty while breaking rocks at the Sunstone Butte mine near Plush, Oregon. Colored Oregon sunstone typically is found with centers of color surrounded by a pale yellow exterior. I preformed this piece by grinding all the pale colored material off and was left with a clearly oval shape. I was fortunate that the best color of this dichroic green/orange labradorite provided adequate depth for a barion cut. I could have retained more weight if I had put a keel on the pavilion, but I wanted performance, and this stone didn’t let me down. Faint copper shiller proves its pedigree yet doesn’t detract from its optical performance. A rare gem indeed!

EDITOR’S NOTE: Beautiful and unusual Green Oregon Sunstone donated by Michael O’Neill and Myah’s. With the sale of this gem we will be looking for projects to fund in Kalamath or Lake Counties Oregon.
