Hi Steven,
A very large specimen. Can you confirm the species with test results? Most Nigerian Phenakite can be identified with tell-tale step patterns. This is not always the case but the stepped patterns do narrow down the the identification.
Recently there has been quartz available form Nigeria that has some similar traits to Phenakite, I’m sure you know this though – but without the step patterns.
The other question to help confirm identification is: What mine did this come from – if a new source it would need a positive ID as Phenakite to confirm.
