This garnet is cut in the “checkerboard oval” design by John Bailey. I like the checked top because it creates a really nice flash that enhances the beauty of the material. It seems like a natural for a pendant.
This gemstone is a great example of garnets found in the beautiful Umba Valley of eastern Tanzania. The pure red color of this garnet makes it one of my favorites.
