Editor Note
There are several classes of gemstones that are most familiar to gemstone enthusiats. Precision Faceted – or Custom Cut, Commercial Cut, and Native Cut – or Traditional Cut.
A gemstone faceted for competition represents the pinnacle of the precision faceted category, and I would consider these stones that receive a high score to be in a class by themselves. These gems do not make it to market as the stone generally represents hour and hours of painstaking labor and are faceted under exacting specifications. Simply put, it would be a rare opportunity to add one of these competition stones to your collection.
