How to Contribute an Article – Information

Articles from Contributors

Solicited and unsolicited articles on any topic related to precision faceted stones.

Editorials, how tos – step-by-step demos, discussions of marketing, gem properties, folklore, a mining trip – the articles might be anything at all. The feature may be long or short, and can be informative on a topic, or frankly even self promoting. The overall content that appears on these pages should be looked at as primary source material and ultimately new information to the industry at large. There will always be exceptions and the guidelines are meant to be flexible.

When considering a topic for submission keep in mind information that can be found elsewhere. Polishing gemstones is a good example. There are many techniques and practices individual faceters use to obtain the perfect polish, a search though the United States Faceters Guild faceters list or even the Gemology Online archives will yield a wealth of knowledge on this topic, so a new article on gem polishing might not make the most interesting choice. An article on how to find and sort through all of this information might be a great topic however.

Another example of an article might be from the consumer standpoint. How to make sense of the terminology for instance and how to find trusted information. Windows, cullets, extinction, native cuts, refraction, color change? This might be a very useful topic. If you are interested in contributing and need a suggestion for a topic, don’t hesitate to contact me. I have a number of subjects I would like to see covered.

The Gemstone Studio and the Articles from Contributors are designed for Collectors, Faceters and Gemstone Enthusiasts alike. Anyone may submit finished articles, drafts or outlines, to me or through any other Artist featured on One World Gemstone.
