This is a 3.18 carat blue tourmaline that was cut for a lucky Pricescope member.
The color requirements were very specific and I was happy that the second stone fit the color that was desired. The tourmaline measures 9 * 7.5 * 6.3 mm and was cut in a modified asscher design.
The stone is a medium blue...

Tanzania Peridot 2.37 ct

Faceting by Jim Rentfrow
This peridot was cut from an 8.5 carat piece of Tanzanian rough. The color and clarity of the gemstone were superb and I wanted to give it a very unique feel and look. The design was experimental and produced an exceptionally bright peridot.

There is one mine in the US that produces spessartite garnets. The rough is extremely hard to get but when you do the color is amazing to see. This piece has the normal inclusions that spessartite can have but the color more than makes up for it! A picture of the rough gem was given to show a before and after look.

The original piece of rough for this gemstone was 39 carats. The piece of rough was preformed by nature to a perfect oval shape. Cutting time was 7 hours. This is the type of gemstones I love to cut. Big, clean and beautiful! I included a shot of the piece of rough to compare the rough and finished shapes and colors.

This is a 16 carat Nigerian pink tourmaline. The piece was cut from a 55 carat pink and green tourmaline. The green section of the gemstone was included so I chose to remove it and only facet the pink section. Total cutting time was 8.5 hours. The final gem is a great work of art and a piece worthy of any collection.

This is a custom cut JXR (Jackson Crossroads) Amethyst. I cut this gem from a 7 carat piece of rough. The stone has the typical grape jelly color of jackson crossroads amethyst. There are minor inclusions in the stone but do not take away from the overall appearance. I included a picture of the piece of rough for comparison.

Tanzania Mahenge Spinel 4.85 ct

Traditional Portuguese Cut
Faceting by Jim Rentfrow
Yowzah! This is an unreal color. The inclusions are hidden quite well in the cut and the photos. Nice display. What’s funny about this photo is the stone is actually brighter. I think it would look downright wrong (fake) in the photo though.
This stone is one of two stones that came from a...
